Donor Recognition

With Heart-felt Appreciation

We are extremely grateful for the financial support and friendship our donors offer, extending a helping hand to women and children that they may never meet or know, but who need and appreciate their help. We are also very aware that without the support of the community, we simply wouldn’t exist to assist abused women and their children.

The Group Hug is our annual thank you to employee groups, service clubs, churches/faith groups and businesses for their financial support. This is a special evening each year when we recognize and highlight the importance and commitment of these ‘corporate’ donors.

On May 26th, representatives from various groups, clubs, churches/faith groups and businesses gathered in the Grand Highland Hall at the Highland Golf and Country Club for the 2016 Group Hug event. Those present, in attendance to represent their respective organization or business and to receive an award for the amazing support they offered to Women’s Community House (WCH) in the previous year, were honoured and thanked by staff, WCH Board President, WCH Executive Director and UNIFOR representative Bob Nickerson. WCH Board members and many WCH staff were also present to show their appreciation to our wonderful supporters.

Board of Director President/Chair Anne Baxter offered warm welcoming remarks to those present. Keynote speaker Bo L., a long-standing Residential Counsellor with WCH and currently a counsellor at WCH’s Counselling and Support Centre (CSC) shared an informative, moving and attention-holding address about her experience working at Women’s Community House. Kind and impactful remarks were also shared by Bob Nickerson, Chair of the Bob White Charity Classic Golf Tournament and UNIFOR representative. Executive Director Kate Wiggins closed the Group Hug with a resounding thank you to all who support WCH.
